I want to have an honest rant and admit something I have felt ashamed about for a big part of my life.
I have worked in the food publishing industry for many years and I have always pride myself as a “Healthy Foodie” and nobody else knows better than me…..I was the glorified “chronic perfectionist” amongst my friends and colleagues. So when I had a Cancer diagnosis I was gobsmacked and was in denial. How can I ever be “unhealthy”? What did I do wrong?
I was filled with shame and I refuse to ask for help. I wanted to FIX IT myself. I did not want anyone to know that I was weak by asking for help.
It was a tough journey. I had support through counselling and support groups and brilliant mentors who guided me.
I would not be where I am today if not for them and learning to accept support in order for me to overcome the trauma of a Cancer diagnosis.
WHY am I sharing this with you?
Because my stubbornness cost me my health and I want you to learn from MY mistakes and be in a preventative space.

I remember my biggest AH-HA moment when I stopped having ridiculous cravings & afternoon brain fog and started developing a better relationship with food just by tweaking my lifestyle habits for the most sustainable change.
I still look back and wonder how I survived the past 20+ years in this manic lifestyle.
